Verify your identity with BVN
Complete the BVN step, link your Nigerian account and review verification status.
The buyer-verification flow asks for your Bank Verification Number (BVN), your official name and a Nigerian bank account. Use only your own identity details. A NIN field is optional in this form; if supplied it is also checked.
Complete buyer verification on the web
- Open Verification & Accounts and choose Verify BVN Now. The P2P page may also open Account Verification or show Verify Account Now.
- In Step 1 of 3, enter your 11-digit BVN and official name. Enter your NIN only if you intend to submit it for verification. Submit the verification step.
- After the identity check succeeds, Step 2 asks for your Nigerian bank and 10-digit NUBAN account number. Submit an account held in your own verified name.
- Step 3 offers an optional Egyptian payout setup. Follow the personal-wallet fields if you have one, or the kiosk option shown. Continue until Verification Complete.
- Return to Verification & Accounts and review Verification Status and the masked identity details.
On the native app
Open Accounts and the buyer-verification prompt. Follow the BVN, bank-linking and optional payout steps in that modal. The app’s document/Smile ID verification is a separate flow.
Resolve a failed check
Remove accidental spaces, check the digit count and use the name held in the official record. A bank name mismatch requires correcting your actual account or identity details. An already verified BVN cannot be changed through this form; ask support for assistance. A successful identity check does not guarantee that a dedicated deposit account has also been generated.
If the issue continues, contact PayTali support with the relevant order or payment reference and the error message. Never include your password, verification codes, full BVN or full NIN.
