Apply to become a merchant
Use the merchant onboarding steps and understand the approval requirement.
A merchant publishes exchange offers and fulfils buyer orders. New accounts start with buyer access. Identity verification and an approved merchant application are required before the active merchant workflow.
Submit an application on the website
- Sign in and open Sell or the merchant page.
- Complete the Smile ID KYC step. If verification cannot open or does not complete, contact support rather than using a development simulation.
- In the desk-details step, enter your business or broker desk name, registration number if applicable, selected corridor and settlement details requested by the form.
- Review the collateral and settlement acknowledgements. Resolve any contradictory amount or policy information with support before accepting or paying.
- Submit the application. Return to the merchant page to check for PENDING_REVIEW or the application-review screen.
After submission
Approval is a separate review; an application receipt does not grant permission to post ads. The application route blocks duplicate submissions and does not provide an automatic rejected-application resubmission flow. Use support for corrections or a rejected application.
On the native app
Open Accounts and Apply to Become a Merchant, View Application Status or Open Merchant Dashboard according to the status shown. Follow the app’s onboarding screens; the website’s sidebar is not present.
If the issue continues, contact PayTali support with the relevant order or payment reference and the error message. Never include your password, verification codes, full BVN or full NIN.
